Appreciate and Care For Those Items You Love

See how our organising solutions have transformed workspaces, homes, and lives with lasting results.

Your 5-step plan

“If you want a better home, make the one you have as nice as you can. If you want new furnishings, new clothing, don’t condemn or belittle what you have, but enjoy them to the fullest.”

“Working with the Law”, Raymond Holliwell (1939).

Holliwell understood when we appreciate our belongings, we take care of them and in turn we attract more beauty into our lives. However, when our home is crammed with stuff, it can be difficult.

This is why the KonMari Method® works so beautifully, it encourages us to curate our belongings, keeping those we love and letting the rest go without feeling guilty. So here is your 5-step plan to appreciate and care for those items we love:

1.

Go through your home and decide which items you love or need

.

This can be quite cathartic as you work through the different emotions that each item evokes. If you have difficulty with an item, Marie Kondo would advise leaving that item until the end of your tidying journey because you will have honed your decision-making skill by then.

2.

Let the rest go with gratitude

.

This is such a wonderful way to let items go, with no need to feel shame or guilt because you are not keeping it. There was a reason each item came into your life, and this is the moment to silently appreciate and thank it. This is so powerful and once you embrace this approach, it makes the “letting go” so much easier.

3.

Give each item a permanent home, displaying proudly those you love most

.

When items have no home, they tend to be placed “somewhere” until you get around to finding a home. However, life is busy, and you never get around to finding a permanent place for it, so it just sits there surrounded by the other misplaced items. Once you surround yourself with your treasured items, you raise your vibrations and attract more beauty into your life.

4.

When you are finished using an item, put it back where it belongs

.

This is the most important part of your tidying, and it won’t take you long to put things away again. Once everyone in the family knows where to put it back, your home will be much easier to keep tidy.

5.

Enjoy the extra time you now have

.

When you complete your KonMari journey, you will know what you have, where it is, and your home will be easy to keep tidy. You won’t need to continually tidy. My advice is to use this additional time doing something you enjoy and, spend it with those you love. That’s priceless.
